Police have decided not to pursue charges against actress Nana, a former member of k-pop group After School, who was countersued for attempted murder by a man who had broken into her home.

On Feb. 16th, the Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had concluded there was no basis to indict Nana on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault, and therefore decided not to forward the case for prosecution.

The incident dates back to November of last year, when Nana successfully restrained an intruder, identified as “A,” who had broken into her residence while armed with a weapon. Nana and her mother were inside the home at the time. After a physical struggle, the intruder was subdued and later taken to the hospital with a laceration to his jaw.

During the incident, Nana’s mother reportedly suffered serious injuries and lost consciousness, while Nana also sustained physical injuries while restraining the suspect. The man, “A,” later claimed, “I didn’t know a celebrity lived there. I committed the crime because I was short on living expenses.”

Police initially determined that Nana and her mother had acted in self-defense and did not charge them. However, controversy arose when A filed a counter-complaint accusing Nana of attempted murder.

Nana’s agency, Sublime, stated, “Through a thorough investigation by the authorities in the robbery and assault case involving Nana, the perpetrator’s criminal actions were clearly established.”

The agency added, “During the crime, the perpetrator was armed with a weapon, and Nana and her family suffered severe physical and psychological harm. The pain and trauma they experienced continue to this day.”

It continued, “Despite this, the perpetrator has shown no remorse and has instead filed a separate complaint against Nana, exploiting the fact that the victim is a public figure and causing secondary harm through inhumane actions.”
