Singer Rain has apologized after addressing a fan with a hearing impairment during a concert, having initially been unaware of the fan’s disability.

During his “Still Raining: Encore” tour concert held on Jan. 17 at Taipei Arena in Taiwan, Rain pointed out a fan who was filming him with a mobile phone instead of dancing, saying, “Why aren’t you dancing?”

After hearing Rain’s remark through an interpreter, the fan—identified as A—covered their ears to indicate that they were hearing impaired. However, Rain initially failed to understand the gesture and asked the fan to respond more enthusiastically.

Following the concert, A tagged Rain in a post on their personal social media account, explaining the situation. A wrote that they were not refusing to dance, but simply did not know what Rain and the interpreter were saying. The fan explained that, due to their hearing impairment, they rely on lip-reading or real-time captions.

A also shared concerns that Rain might have misunderstood them as being unresponsive, writing that Rain appeared frustrated and urged them to try again, which made them worry about being perceived as a fan who was not listening.

After seeing the post, Rain issued a heartfelt apology for his behavior. He wrote, “I’m truly sorry that I didn’t know you couldn’t hear. I lacked consideration and didn’t think deeply enough.”

Rain also wished the fan a happy birthday, adding, “Although there was a small misunderstanding, it has become a beautiful memory for both of us. I will be more careful and considerate in every aspect during future performances,” bringing the incident to a close.
