Global K-pop powerhouse BTS has claimed the grand prize at the American Music Awards (AMAs), taking home Artist of the Year as a complete group.

The 2026 AMAs took place on Monday (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. BTS opened the ceremony with a performance video from their “Hooligan” stage in Las Vegas, setting the tone for the night as the audience erupted in cheers.

BTS went on to secure a triple crown, winning Song of the Summer, Best Male K-pop Artist, and the night’s top honor, Artist of the Year. Notably, this marks their second time winning the grand prize, following their historic first win as the first Asian act to do so.

Attending the ceremony as a full group following the completion of their military service, BTS triumphed over a star-studded lineup including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, and Taylor Swift.

Leader RM expressed his gratitude in English, saying, “ARMY, we did it once again,” adding, “It’s an honor to receive this precious award after everyone completed their military service. Since this is a fan-voted award, our biggest thanks and gratitude, as always, go to Armys all over the world.”

Member Jimin shared his thoughts in Korean, thanking fans: “To our ARMY who always support and love us, thank you.”

BTS completed their mandatory military service as a full group last year and have since been enjoying global success with their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG.

The AMAs are considered one of the “Big Three” US music awards, alongside the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards.
