Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan will visit Korea for the first time, accompanied by stars Matt Damon and Charlize Theron.

The team behind The Odyssey has officially confirmed that Nolan, Damon, and Theron will travel to Korea ahead of the film‘s release. The visit is especially significant as it marks Nolan’s first-ever trip to the country.

Ahead of his inaugural visit, Nolan sent a handwritten letter to Korean fans, expressing his gratitude for their long-standing support and announcing his upcoming trip.

According to the distributor, Nolan‘s visit was made possible largely through his own strong desire to finally come to Korea, after several previous attempts to arrange a trip had fallen through.

The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king renowned for devising the Trojan Horse that led to victory in the Trojan War. The film chronicles his arduous 10-year journey through unknown lands as he struggles to return home to his wife, Penelope, after the war.

The Odyssey is scheduled to open in Korea on Aug. 5.
